Entry #11: No more blogging (insert sad face)

I am so sad that this class has come to an end. I honestly really enjoyed this English class and that says a lot because I truly don't like any type of writing and grammar work. When I first started this blog in the the ENG 101 class , I wasn't too sure what to think about it because

I do not like to be told what to write about  so it was nice that for every structured blog there was a free blog of your choice. I did take this blogging experience serious because it is for a grade and I didn't want to get a bad grade. Besides the few blogs that I did forget to do but that was my fault. But after the first few blogs I actually looked forward to writing my blogs for the week, it was fun to get to talk about things that were going on in my life and interests I have. It was like a little piece of me was apart if this blog and I could tell the class about me without forcing anyone to really listen or read it.
There were a few blogs that I did learn something from mostly the blogs where we were told what to write about. I think blogging as an assignment was honestly cool because if you really took the time to write them it could be a fun thing and a way to express yourself.
All in all I truly did like writing a blog I thought it was a fun  way of learning. I would like to start a blog of my own, just so that I could talk about life and share my photos.

Entry #7 DUMB MEN

Hey EVERYONE!!! So for those of you that took a look at the website "Dumb Men" I found the website to be funny in a way but it did get a little over played after a few posts. The website itself was not too organized in my opinion. I honestly thought it was disorganized and not fully developed. For some of the videos I wanted to watch I had to sign into YouTube before so that was one problem I notice. Another problem was videos were not categorized which made it hard to find a certain video. My overall opinion of the websites is that they are bashing men and ultimately trying to bring a man's self esteem down.

The video to the right caught my eye because I have seen it before on TV and even the commercial use to air I thought "Wow way to make a man feel B****". Basically this guy walks into the bar and ask the bartender for a lite beer and she ask him if cares what it taste like then gives him some off brand beer. After taking the beer she tells him when he is ready for Miller Lite to take off his skirt. This video is making the point of saying that if you are a man ordering a lite beer, you basically are not a man at all. Calling the man a woman!

I don't think I would visit the website again because it really did not interest me but everyone has their own opinion. Happy Blogging :-)

ENTRY #6 It's Just a RED CUP

SERIOUSLY YOU LOVE ONE BUT NOT THE OTHER
Whether the cup be white, red or have leaves on it someone will have something to say. With is whole controversy of Starbucks red cups recently. It makes me think how petty can people be. I'm sure when Starbucks decided to make this years holiday cup just plaid red they did not think people would become so upset.

Customers really believe Starbucks is trying to boycott Christmas but in reality the company should not sway in any religion or holiday because they do not want to offend there customers. If people were true Starbucks customers they would know that was cup was made to be just plaid red for customers to design their own holiday/festive cup. The cup was never made to offended anyone or single a certain religion out. So in my opinion if the plaid cup is such a problem for people take your business else where or bring your own cup when you go to Starbucks. It is that easy. HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!!

****FYI DO NOT WATCH VIDEO IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED****

ENTRY #5 Shorter Classes

So after reading this article about ASU offering more shorter classes starting in January, I definitely see the positives and negative aspects to having shorter classes.

Positives:
  • Flexibility for those who work or are older
  • Lower tuition for a shorter class which is financially better for some
  • Also bring in more students to the university

Negatives:
  • Fast paced classes are not suited for everyone
  • Full 16 weeks worth of material crammed into 7 1/2 weeks
These shorter classes will not suit everyone but it is definitely a great option to have for those who are motivated to graduate faster and are able to use time management skills being that the work load is going to be heavier.

ENTRY #4 Technology Taking Over

Today's generation is so glue to cellphones, TVs and computers; it is so sad to see. I swear as a child I was always outside playing. Rarely did I sit on the couch and watch TV. If anything the only time I watched TV was in the mornings when I was getting ready for school I would watch my cartoons but other than that I was constantly outside riding my bike, jumping on my trampoline or something active.

I have seen children as young as six years old having a cell phones, while I did not have one until I was 11 or 12 years old and the only reason I got one was because I was going to be walking home and it was for an emergency. Oh and believe me when I say my first phone was nothing cool or fancy, I swear it looked like a grey little brick with no camera....selfies were not a thing.

This generation will never really appreciate having outside time because of technology. I saw a picture on Facebook with the caption "Kids go play outside" and the group of kids went outside and sat on the porch with their phones in their hands. When I choose to have children, they will go play outside, technology will not rule my household. I think parents need to put their foot down when it comes to this matter because excesses technology use cause laziness which can then lead to obesity children. Matter of fact I am going to start cutting out time for myself without having my phone around.

ENTRY #3 Only Showing the Bad

Have you ever watched the news and thought to yourself "Wow did they really just say that or where is the good that is going on?" With today's media whether it be an article, video or talk radio, most are only out to report the bad. When you think about it 90% of news is negatively reported with the other 10% of something positive. Watch the video to the left and you will realize for yourself how bad it really is.

If the news caster and journalist did not report it this way they would not have their jobs.

I believe this is a big problem because as citizen we deserve the right to know the truth about what is going on. There should not be any sugar coating of  things. If people do not want to hear it they have every right to turn it off or to watch it. But I feel it should be a law the news channels have to report the truth and not one side of the story and not the other.

ENTRY #2: Halloweenie Festivities

Haunted Houses, Scary masks, Horror movies, and Costumes. Since the Halloween just past and it happens to be one of my favorite holidays. I figured why not. I love the month of October, getting to watch scary movies, going to haunted houses with all your friends and dressing up for Halloween parties.

Every year my family throws a big Halloween party and I feel like every year it gets bigger and bigger. This year party was huge we decorated the whole house from the mail box to the bathroom to the backyard. Body outlines on the ground every where and spider webs all over the house. Along with all the decorations, we had so much food and jello shots.

Costumes are required for the party, and everyone always goes all out. The party this year started at 8 p.m. and continued until 4:30 a.m.. Unfortunately, I could not hang the whole night and passed out at 3 a.m. and had to be up at 7:30 a.m. to help clean up the house. All in all the party was a huge success, everyone left happy and ready for next years Halloween party.

ENTRY #1 Blogs Here, Blogs There, Blogs Everywhere

I have always known blogs existent but I didn't think there was as many blogs on the web as I found as I was reading through some blog list. Some of these blogs that I had stumbled across were website the I have gone on to in the past and never even knew they were blogs. Blogs come in all different shapes and sizes, some personal, professional and some that are a little of both. Me personally I like the more personal blogs where the writer is simply writing because they want to say what they need to say.

I found a blog called PostSecret that I found to be interesting and definitely not like any blog that I have ever seen before, this blog allows those who read it to post their secrets on a homemade postcard and post them up for every one else to read, it is completely anonymous so some of the secrets are really personal but that is what makes the blog so different. This blog would be classified as a personal blog.

Since I have a huge passion for photography I searched for one that seemed to have a little bit of everything about photography. From the fundamentals to the artists actual work. The name of this blog is Jasmine Star, she has everything you need to know or might want to see from a photographer. She has her work, gear she uses, about her and a store all in one. If I was ever to start a blog for my photos I would model it after the way she does hers.

Her blog would be considered a little personal because she is showing off her work but at the same time professional because it is her profession.

My third blog that I read through was called Talented Animals. The blog discusses all things you should know when raising any type of animals. They have a tab for training, animal care and exotic animals. The one thing I really disliked about this blog was how cluttered the home page is, there is way too much writing and it is a bit distracting. If I was the writer of this blog I would consider putting sections, to make the stories into smaller tabs to take away from the clutter.

The urls for these three blogs are listed below if you would like to check them out:

Meeeeeeeeee

Well here is a little about myself, my name is Alyssa Marie Ramirez. I am 20 years old born and raised in Phoenix, AZ. I'm getting my associates in general studies for sciences though GCC then planning to return to ASU to finish up my criminal justice degree. With a degree in criminal justice I plan to become a K-9 police dog trainer, I have always had a soft spot in my heart for dogs but could never see myself working as a veterinarian. One of my biggest passions is photography. I love taking pictures and no I do not mean selfies, as nice as a selfie is every once in awhile. I like to take photos of scenery and people sometimes. I don't know if you would consider getting tattoos a hobby but I look at as a expression of art that will forever be with you and I love all my tattoos.
